Crystal Beach also provides access to the Ottawa West Winter Trail, a popular spot for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking. Is Crystal Beach the Same as Lakeview Park?

A lot of confusion arises between Crystal Beach and Lakeview Park. Is it a potato/potahto situation, where they’re really one and the same but with two different names? Technically speaking, they are two distinct communities.

  1. Crystal Beach refers to the subdivision of Minto founded in the 1960s.
  2. Lakeview Park is considered slightly east of Crystal Beach by Corkstown Road and the Queensway. This is also where you’ll find Lakeview Public School.

Practically speaking, both fall under the same umbrella, and most people refer to the entire area as “Crystal Beach.” Whatever you call it, you’d be hard-pressed to find a friendlier or more welcoming community in Ottawa!

Where Is Crystal Beach in Ottawa?

Crystal Beach in Ottawa (not to be confused with Crystal Beach, the small, lakeside town in Fort Erie) is located in the west end. More specifically, it’s in the Bay Ward, bordered by Moodie Drive, the Queensway, and as we’ve already mentioned, the Ottawa River.

This location isn’t just scenic; it’s refreshingly convenient. Do you fancy an afternoon of shopping or enjoying a bite with friends? You don’t have to go very far. Bayshore Shopping Centre is the primary retail hub in the area, not to mention all of the amenities and attractions in nearby Bells Corners and Kanata.

If you commute, you’ll appreciate quick access to major roads and highways 417 and 416. Plus, a massive transit station is coming soon to Moodie Drive, which will make getting around even easier. The Department of National Defence (DND) is a major employer for the community, and you’ll discover plenty of opportunities a short drive away in Kanata, home to Canada’s largest tech park!
