We had the pleasure of attending the Operation Com

We had the pleasure of attending the Operation Come Home luncheon at Ottawa City Hall today. This is an amazing organization that offers educational programs, housing programs and employment programs, among others. Located in downtown Ottawa, Operation Come Home helps hundreds of at-risk and homeless youth access the services and support they need in order to make positive changes in their lives.

The Executive Director, John Heckbert says that, last year, they had 41 housing units to lease and this year they are up to 183 units, which is fantastic, but they need more. Ideally they are looking for approximately 300 units. The organization leases the units as the tenant, and houses the youths. They essentially become the landlords to the youths who are living in the units. The owners of the leased units deal directly with Operation Come Home, making it easier for everyone. If you know anyone who would be interested in renting units to Operation Come Home, reach out to them directly, or reach out to us and we will put you in touch.

Mayor Sutcliffe, who was in attendance as a speaker today, has pledged to end youth homelessness by 2030. He sees the importance of looking after these young people now, so that they don’t remain homeless as adults. Let’s give them a fighting chance.
